COMMITTEES

The ongoing work of St. Gabriel's parish depends on the active participation of her gifted parishioners in a variety of ways which are organized into the following committees.  If you would like to join in the work of one or more of our committees, please contact the Parish Office.

FORUM:  All parishioners are members of the Forum and are invited to attend its meetings.  Meetings are held about three times a year on a Sunday evening.  This group is an advisory council which functions like a parish council where matters are brought up, discussed and recommendations are made to the pastoral administrator.
      There are three officers:  president, vice president and treasurer, who are selected by the members.

ADULT EDUCATION:  collaborates with the parishes in the CSCP in planning talks, seminars, retreats and mini courses.

BEREAVEMENT:  hospitality group which provides a luncheon and refreshments for the family and friends of the deceased after the funeral liturgy.

BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS:  cares for the physical plant of the church, parish house, garage and grounds.

FINANCE:  supervises the financial status of the parish.

FUND RAISING:  plans functions to raise money for needed projects for the parish.

HISTORY:  researches the past of St. Gabriel's for the purpose of writing a parish history.

HOSPITALITY:  plans for gatherings of parishioners for special occasions and provides refreshments.

JUSTICE AND PEACE:  an outreach group which assists in helping the poor and those in need.

LITURGY:  plans for the prayer, music and environment for parish liturgies.  Liturgical ministers are: 
          Lectors                                                    Cantors

          Communion Ministers                           Greeters

          Funeral Servers                                     Servers

          Ushers                                                     Sacristans (altar care)
      There are currently over eighty parishioners serving in these various roles.  If you would like to join their ranks, please call the parish office.

MONEY COUNTERS:  count and bank the weekly collections each Monday morning.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults):  prepares people who are searching and would like to be received into the church.

SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES:  plans for small group discussion of pertinent topics for the seasons of Advent and Lent.

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES:  plans for guest musicians and speakers for our liturgies and other programs.

YOUTH GROUP:  plans and carries out activities and programs for the youth of the parish (grades 6 through 12).
